The Roxbury Land Trust (RLT) and Bridgewater Land Trust (BWLT) recently celebrated the opening of a new trail that connects BWLT’s Town Line Farm Preserve to RLT’s expansive Riverbelt trail system. About 30 people attended the official opening on November 1.
“With the creation of this new Connector Trail, the public can now enjoy both the sweeping views offered by the Town Line Farm Preserve and more than 10 miles of beautiful trails weaving through our Riverbelt preserves on both banks of the Shepaug River,” said Lisa Roush, RLT’s executive director.
“We were thrilled to collaborate with the Roxbury Land Trust to build this important new linkage between existing preserves,” said Julie Stuart, BWLT’s executive director.
The new Connector Trail, which is approximately one mile in length, can be accessed either from the parking area at the top of Town Line Road or from a new parking area created by the RLT at 80 Minor Bridge Road. From this parking area, the new Arrow Pass Trail, forks to the west to the Town Line Connector Trail, following an old wood road along Camp Brook. A new wood footbridge connects to the Town Line Farm Preserve.
The Connector Trail also gives access to the southern section of RLT’s Riverbelt, connecting to the Minor Bridge Trail, which leads to the Erbacher Preserve, River Road Preserve and more. The Riverbelt encompasses six preserves, 814 permanently protected acres and 10.5 miles of trails.
