We are looking for volunteers to join us on Saturday, May 2nd from 9:00 to 12:00 to help clear trails in an organized manner, led by our Land and Property Manager Jamie Curren.
Work will focus on developing a new 2.1-mile trail system through the 225-acre preserve, including a spur connection to the Tierney/Hurlbut Trail system.
Volunteer activities will include:
Clearing debris along the trail route
Clipping back encroaching vegetation
Installing water bars in erosion-prone areas
Blazing the trail
What to bring and wear:
Sturdy footwear suitable for uneven, forested terrain
Work gloves
Weather-appropriate clothing
A reusable water bottle
Light refreshments will be provided.
The Roxbury Land Trust will supply tools such as hand pruners, loppers, rakes, and shovels. If you have tools you prefer to use, feel free to bring them along.
Volunteers will meet at the future parking area/trailhead located at 287 Southbury Road. Look for the Roxbury Land Trust sign.
