We invite the community to learn more about coexisting with the black bears of Connecticut on Friday, May 3 at 11:30 am in the Community Room at the Roxbury Town Hall.

The free, informative talk will be led by Paul Colburn, a graduate of the Connecticut Master Wildlife Conservationist Program and a certified Master Wildlife Conservationist. Paul is a dedicated advocate for wildlife, passionate about sharing his knowledge and is focused on teaching the community about living responsibly with wildlife.  

The “Black Bears in Connecticut” presentation focuses on the history of black bears in Connecticut, an overview of black bear habitat, diet, behavior, reproduction and current research efforts. It also provides practical recommendations for optimum coexistence with our black bear population. Black bear artifacts will be shared with the audience.  

Established in 1970, the Roxbury Land Trust preserves nearly 4,000 acres of farmland, woodlands, watercourses, wetlands and open space in Roxbury and neighboring communities. The Roxbury Land Trust maintains 32 preserves with more than 30 miles of hiking trails and three active farms, as well as offers a wide range of educational programs. RLT relies on donations, grants, member support, and gifts of land to pursue its mission and is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization.
