Join us at the Roxbury Town Hall when Paul Colburn, a certified Master Wildlife Conservationist (MWC), will present a talk on the natural history of black bears in Connecticut, an overview of black bear habitat, diet, behavior, reproduction and current research efforts. It also provides practical recommendations for optimum coexistence with our black bear population. Black bear artifacts will be shared with the audience.
Paul Colburn is a graduate of Master Wildlife Conservationist Program (MWCP), which is a Connecticut Department of Energy & Environmental Protection (DEEP) adult education program that trains participants in the fields of wildlife management, natural history and interpretation.

Shepaug Baseball/Softball Trail Race
10K, 25K, 50K or 50-mile course starts/stops at the Bridgewater Fire House, 100 Main Street South, and traverses Bridgewater farmland and Roxbury Land Trust trails. Register at www.NYARA.org Note: this was postponed from March 25 due to icy trail conditions.

At the Gavel Family Farm Preserve located on Dorothy Diebold Lane, near the intersection of Route 317. Please bring your own picnics, blankets and lawn chairs to the farm field with spectacular views overlooking Roxbury and beyond. Music will be donated by the Doug White Jazz Quintet. Dessert will be provided by the Roxbury Land Trust. No pets are permitted. Rain venue: Hurlburt Park at Apple Lane.

Hike the Greenbelt Parking at kiosk at the Good Hill Farm Preserve, RT 317, Woodbury. Short and long hikes. Self-guiding.

Hike the WashingtonRoxbury Tunnel Road Connector
Join Steep Rock Association and Roxbury Land Trust for this collaborative hike. Start at the Steep Rock Riding Ring, hike Tunnel Road to RLT's Battle Swamp Preserve on Judd's Bridge Rd. Round trip 7.6+ miles roundtrip. Register by calling the Steep Rock office, 860-868-9131. Limited to 25 participants. Rain date: Sunday, October 1 at 10:00 a.m.

Explore 19th Century Iron Mining at Mine Hill Preserve
Self-guided Family Hike. Historians will be on site at the furnaces. Parking area off Mine Hill Road, 0.3 miles from Route 67. Learn more about it before you go, and you'll enjoy it more!
Cross Country Skiing
Follow the Kress Family Trail on the railroad bed at the Orzech Preserve through to the Erbacher Preserve field, and at the Gavel Family Farm Preserve.
